UKGovcamp 2012: 4 months, 1 week ago · ViewIt’s looking like Steph Gray, Harry Metcalfe and myself will be running a WordPress masterclass (of sorts!), showcasing some of the more advanced stuff we’ve all been doing recently, and hopefully inspiring you to similarly great things.
However, there’s been some interest expressed in a possible ’WordPress for beginners’ session – where we could cover the absolute basics, right back to initial setup, old-school blogging etc. Who would be up for that? If it’s worth a session in itself, I’m happy to lead it. Or maybe it’s just a few of us having a leisurely coffee at some point.

GovCamp 2011: 1 year, 4 months ago · ViewI’ve written a blog post on some of the things I want to get from the event; and seeking feedback about what – if anything! – people would like to hear from me. All feedback welcome.

Word Up: WordPress In Whitehall event 1 year, 7 months ago · ViewMy sign-in list for the (first?) Word Up Whitehall event, held at BIS’s Kingsgate House on Wednesday 13 October 2010. Note: a handful of people on the list weren’t able to make it along, for various reasons… but hopefully it’s a starting point.

I’m up for both of those – very new to Wordpress and am getting by but would really benefit from some basic grounding
I’d be interested too. I’ve published more than 40 blogs on WordPress and yet never really taken the time to get to grips with most of its basics. That’s probably pretty evident from the blogs!
Yes – both; the more advanced session for my own stuff & basics to help talk to new community bloggers & better enthuse & support them
Yes, the advance techniques stuff would be great.
Also of particular interest would a conversion course for BuddyPress. I haven’t yet looked at what it does and how it does it on top of WP.
In that case, let’s try to do a WordPress Fundamentals session in a small meeting room, or perhaps somewhere more informal, some time in the morning (on the Friday). We can talk about the key principles, how the project got started, and how it’s organised these days. I’ll probably also talk about themes and plugins: what they are, how they work, and how to commission them. Bring lots of questions!
And then, once you’re all experts, we’ll look to do the ’advanced’ slot some time after it. (Won’t we @lesteph ?)
Sounds perfect!!
