UKGovCamp

I was involved in the ScienceIsVital campaign last year. Within the space of 6 weeks the campaign went from inception to a parliament lobby of 120, rally of 2,000, and a Petition of 35,000. It activated a base of previously politically (note the small p) inactive scientists. There is a story of new media, old skool email, old media and old fashioned lobbying. It was successful – science funding avoided a cash cut.

I appreciate this is not core UKGovCamp but I thought I’d offer it up and see if there was any interest in how social media combined with other elements to very quickly build support.
